TexPREP is a collaborative effort of colleges and universities located throughout Texas, that encourages students to begin preparing early for scientific and engineering career paths in school. The
TEXPREP INSTRUCTOR
instructs TexPREP students at the Del Mar College Oso Creek Campus and on weekly field trips during the seven week program which begins June 01, 2026 and ends on July 17, 2026.
Course subjects include:
Introduction to Engineering, Logic, Introduction to Physics, Problem Solving, Technical Writing, and Statistics. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a field related to one of the following subject areas: Mathematics, Science, Technology, Engineering, or English. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Commitment and interest in assisting middle and high school students in their academic and personal growth. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills. Ability to actively engage and be involved with children on a daily basis. Ability to use good judgement when responding to emergency situations. Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with students, staff, parents, and public. Ability to respond professionally and appropriately when dealing with children who may have special needs. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching STEM -related courses, fundamental engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, coding, and technical writing. Experience providing instruction to adolescents from from 8th through 11th grade. Experience integrating project-based learning combined with a learner/student-centered classroom environment.
