OF RACQUET SPORTS POSITION SUMMARY
The Racquets Coordinator / Assistant Professional supports exceptional tennis and pickleball programming and Member experiences at Hideaway Golf Club. The role combines on-court instruction with program coordination, organized play, tournaments, social events, and day-to-day Racquets operations while delivering attentive, personalized service consistent with a premier private club. Working closely with the Director of Racquet Sports, this position provides high-quality instruction for players of varying ages and skill levels, communicates program information, builds positive Member relationships, and maintains high standards of professionalism, sportsmanship, safety, and hospitality.
EMPLOYMENT SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
Employment dates: November 1, 2026, through April 30, 2027.
Schedule:
Seasonal, part-time, up to 20 hours per week.
Non-instructional work:
$23.00 per hour for coordination, events, setup and breakdown, and other assigned scheduled duties.
Instructional opportunities:
Additional compensation is available through department clinics, private tennis and pickleball lessons, and professional-run clinics. Instructional compensation and commission structure will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications. Scheduled hours and instructional opportunities vary with Member demand, programming needs, weather, and Club operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Racquets Instruction & Player Development Deliver and assist with private, semi-private, and group tennis and pickleball lessons for Members and Guests as assigned. Lead and assist with department clinics, drills, instructional programs, and organized play based on experience and departmental needs. Teach appropriate fundamentals, technique, footwork, positioning, strategy, scoring, and match play. Evaluate player abilities and adapt instruction to individual skill levels, goals, learning styles, and physical capabilities. Demonstrate proper technique, reinforce safe playing practices, and provide positive, constructive feedback that builds confidence. Assist Members with improving consistency, technique, strategy, court positioning, and overall enjoyment of the game. Modify drills and instruction to accommodate varying ages, skill levels, and abilities. Provide positive, constructive feedback that encourages player development and confidence. Support junior and adult tennis and pickleball programming as assigned. Prepare courts, balls, teaching aids, and equipment before instruction; begin and end all sessions on time. Member Experience & Hospitality Deliver exceptional, personalized service that exceeds Member and Guest expectations. Greet Members and Guests warmly and create a welcoming and engaging Racquets environment. Build positive professional relationships with Members while maintaining appropriate boundaries. Learn Members' playing preferences, abilities, and interests to help provide personalized experiences. Respond professionally and promptly to Member questions, concerns, and requests. Encourage Member participation in lessons, clinics, tournaments, mixers, and other Racquets programs. Promote sportsmanship, camaraderie, and a positive atmosphere on and around the courts. Assist new or less-experienced players in feeling comfortable and welcomed into Club Racquets programming. Maintain discretion and professionalism in all Member and Guest interactions. Program Coordination, Events & Operations Assist with planning, setup, execution, and breakdown for tournaments, round robins, mixers, exhibitions, social events, and other Racquets programming. Support player check-in, scoring, match coordination, organized play, and other event responsibilities so programs operate efficiently and on schedule. Maintain Racquets equipment, teaching areas, supplies, and storage spaces in a clean, organized, and professional condition. Monitor court conditions, inventory, and program supplies; promptly report maintenance, safety, or replenishment needs. Assist the Director of Racquet Sports with clinic and event schedules, registrations, participant lists, court assignments, and program communications. Communicate schedules, registration information, changes, cancellations, and other program updates accurately and professionally. Collaborate with Racquets team members and other Club departments in support of Member events and Club-wide programming. Assist with special events and other Club activities as business needs require. Professional Standards Maintain a professional appearance consistent with Hideaway Golf Club standards. Maintain required certifications and continuing education as applicable to the position. Remain current on tennis and pickleball teaching techniques, rules, equipment, trends, and industry best practices. Follow all Club safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and departmental policies. Maintain punctuality, reliability, preparedness, and professionalism for all scheduled lessons, clinics, programs, and events. Demonstrate excellent sportsmanship and serve as a positive role model for Members, Guests, and fellow Team Members. Foster teamwork through positive communication and collaboration. Represent Hideaway Golf Club with professionalism, integrity, enthusiasm, and discretion. Perform other duties as assigned.
MEMBER EXPERIENCE & TRAINING EXPECTATIONS
Prepare for scheduled lessons and clinics by reviewing instructional goals, participant skill levels, drills, and required equipment. Begin and end lessons, clinics, and programs on time while maximizing the Member experience. Provide clear demonstrations, explanations, and constructive feedback throughout instruction. Observe player technique and provide appropriate corrections in a positive and encouraging manner. Adapt instruction to individual player abilities, learning styles, goals, and physical capabilities. Maintain an instructional environment that balances player development, safety, enjoyment, and Member engagement. Communicate professionally regarding lessons, scheduling changes, cancellations, clinics, tournaments, and other programming. Encourage Member development and participation through positive coaching and relationship-building. Support Hideaway Golf Club's commitment to personalized service, exceptional recreational programming, and luxury hospitality.

Previous tennis and/or pickleball instruction, coaching, or competitive playing experience required. Strong knowledge of tennis and pickleball fundamentals, rules, scoring, strategy, and proper playing techniques. Ability to deliver and assist with private, semi-private, and group tennis and pickleball instruction. Ability to effectively demonstrate racquets techniques, footwork, court positioning, and drills. Ability to provide instruction to players of varying ages, abilities, and skill levels. Energetic, engaging, and comfortable working with individuals and groups. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and Member service skills. Ability to provide constructive feedback in a positive and encouraging manner. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Professional appearance, discretion, and sound judgment. Reliable, punctual, and prepared for scheduled lessons, clinics, programs, and events. Commitment to exceptional Member service and luxury hospitality standards. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as business needs require. Additional Eligibility Qualifications RSPA, USTA, PTR, RPO or comparable racquets teaching certification preferred. Previous experience teaching tennis and/or pickleball in a private club, resort, academy, or comparable environment preferred. Collegiate, professional, or high-level competitive racquets experience is desirable. Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred. Experience assisting with tournaments, leagues, mixers, clinics, or other organized racquets programming is desirable. Hospitality, customer service, or guest relations experience is beneficial. Commitment to delivering exceptional Member service and upholding luxury hospitality standards. Work Authorization/Security Clearance Proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Criminal and civil background clearance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the physical ability to actively demonstrate tennis movements and techniques and participate in lessons, clinics, and programs for extended periods.
Essential physical activities may include:
Standing and walking for extended periods while teaching lessons, clinics, and supporting tennis programs. Demonstrating tennis strokes, serves, volleys, footwork, court positioning, and other playing techniques. Frequent lateral movement, changes of direction, reaching, bending, twisting, balancing, and repetitive arm movements. Running or moving quickly around the tennis court while demonstrating drills or participating in instruction. Repeatedly feeding and retrieving tennis balls during lessons and clinics. Carrying, moving, setting up, and storing tennis balls, ball baskets, teaching aids, racquets, court equipment, and other program materials. Occasionally lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds. Maintaining hand-eye coordination, balance, mobility, and spatial awareness while demonstrating tennis skills. Communicating continuously with Members and Guests during lessons, clinics, programs, and events. Visually monitoring player movement, technique, court conditions, and surrounding areas for safety. Working outdoors for extended periods in varying environmental and weather conditions. Work Environment This position works primarily in outdoor tennis and pickleball facilities and related Racquets areas, with occasional work in indoor Club facilities and administrative spaces. The Racquets Coordinator / Assistant Professional frequently interacts with Members, Guests, Racquets staff, and Club leadership while providing instruction, coordinating programs, supporting organized play, and assisting with tournaments and special events. The position requires regular outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including exposure to sun and seasonal desert temperatures. The role requires maintaining a safe, professional, energetic, and welcoming environment while adapting to varying schedules, Member needs, and playing conditions.
