Job Description

ANNOUNCMENT OF POSITION VACANCY ABOUT THIS POSITION
Summary:
The Social and Behavioral Sciences department at Colorado Mesa University is seeking an adjunct instructor of sociology. Colorado Mesa University is a state-funded, largely undergraduate institution that emphasizes quality teaching. The standard course in sociology at CMU is a 3-credit hour class. The instructor will teach one course to start, with the potential for future offerings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Teaching introductory-level sociology courses such as Marriage and Families, General Sociology, and/or Social Problems. Teaching in other areas of specialization within the sociology discipline will be considered, requisite with the candidate's experience and expertise. The ability to teach in-person lecture format, as well as online. The ability to teach quality courses including delivering course content, facilitating student discussions and activities, assessing student learning, and providing timely and responsive communication and feedback to students.
Salary:
$600.00 - $850.00 per credit hour. Adjunct faculty are paid on a per credit hour basis, commensurate with education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Master's degree in Sociology. Experience teaching introductory-level sociology courses. Experience with basic classroom technology
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates that can demonstrate excellence in teaching the required courses for this position will be given preference. Candidates with experience using the Desire 2 Learn (D2L) learning management system will be given preference. Candidates with strong communication skills and demonstrated responsiveness to students will be given preference.
