Qualifications & Experience:
Must hold current Alabama certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Previous experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments highly preferred Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adapted curriculum Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with staff and families Organized, compassionate, and resourceful educator
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments Adapt instructional materials and recommend appropriate accessibility tools Collaborate with classroom teachers to support full student participation Monitor student progress and document outcomes Contribute to IEP meetings and develop relevant programming Serve as a resource to school staff regarding visual impairment strategies Enjoy the flexibility of part-time hours, with work focused during the school week and only requiring a couple of hours each week—perfect for balancing other professional or personal commitments.
