Pacific Preparatory School

1:1 In Person Coding Teacher

Job Description

At Pacific Prep, you will teach one-on-one, and you will receive an individualized syllabus for each student, a working draft we build specifically for that learner that you take and make your own. We mail you the books and hands-on materials directly, so you are never buying curriculum or building lessons from scratch. You bring the relationship, the instincts, and the craft, and we take care of the rest. The role Pacific Preparatory is looking for an experienced, engaged coding teacher to work in person with an 11th-grade student we have supported for several years. This is a long-term, relationship-based role: we're not looking for someone to run a generic curriculum, but for a teacher who wants to become a real member of this student's learning team. The student is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and likely Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). He engages best when learning is framed as a mission or journey, with clear, ranked achievements to work toward rather than open-ended tasks or direct instructions. The right teacher will already understand why that structure matters and will know how to build it into a coding curriculum naturally, not as an afterthought. We hold a high standard on both sides of this role, the teaching and the follow-through, which means being responsive to families, completing session notes and admin on time, and showing up prepared. We will give you everything you need to meet that standard, and we ask you to actually meet it. Who we are looking for A former classroom teacher, professor, curriculum writer, or long-term private instructor who is ready for something more flexible including credentialed teachers with current or expired teaching credentials. Someone with at least 3-5 hours of availability per week. A person who cares about doing excellent work and follows through on all of it: the teaching, the admin, and the ongoing relationship with the student and family. 2-3+ years of experience supporting students with autism required. Formal teaching experience with coding preferred, strong background required. A bachelor's degree or higher and at least two years of teaching or instructional experience. What we offer Rate of $50-70 DOE. Paid prep time. Individualized syllabi and all student materials provided, including books, hands-on supplies, and resources mailed directly to you at no cost. We handle all student matching and billing so you can focus on teaching. Professional development, coaching, and ongoing support from our academic team. We are invested in you as a teacher, not just in filling your schedule. A community of educators who are doing the same kind of work and understand what it involves.
Growth potential:
instructors who perform well receive regular raises, and long-tenured teachers can earn $3,000 or more per month. What to expect Pacific Preparatory is a school, not a marketplace. You will have dedicated students, ongoing relationships, and a team behind you. Your schedule can include for-credit courses, academic tutoring, or a mix of both, and we will work with you to build a caseload that fits your availability and your strengths. What we are looking for is educators who are ready to show up consistently for their students, and who bring the same standard to every session whether it is a formal course or a tutoring engagement. If that sounds like you, we want to hear from you. Apply at : pacificpreparatory.org/about/join-our-team Pacific Preparatory is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive team. Employment decisions are based on qualifications, not race, religion, gender, age, orientation, or other protected characteristics.
