Job Description

Under the direction of the Behavior Lead, Behavior Support Aides work with the special education team to facilitate an effective learning environment for students with disabilities related to mental health, behavior and developmental disorders as well as providing 1:1 student assistance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in implementation of student behavior plans; utilize approved positive behavior supports and positive behavior interventions to establish and maintain a safe and effective learning environment in the classroom and across the school campus. Assist teachers in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students and assist with the implementation of individual education plans. Assist student(s) in completing classroom assignments and projects. Adapt and prepare materials to meet student needs. Assist with data collection and progress monitoring for academics and behavior; maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with School and legal requirements. Complete certification of skills and techniques related to position; attend staff meetings and other professional development activities as needed. Support students to develop positive relationships with other students and adults; functions as a role model to students. Provide routine first aid to injured students according to established procedures as assigned by the position. Qualifications Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or those with developmental disabilities Bachelor's Degree preferred; will consider candidates with a high school diploma, two years of college, or equivalent work experience Strong oral and written communication skills Experience implementing positive behavior intervention plans Ability to work collaboratively in a student-centered environment Patient, flexible, and able to multitask Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) preferred, but not required Physical demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
