POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated, bilingual (Spanish), dependable individual who has a passion for making a difference in the lives of young children, and their families, through exceptional early intervention to serve the Madera, Oakhurst, and/or Kerman areas . Easterseals Early Intervention Services is based on the parent implemented early intervention model, The PLAY Project, and delivers Early Start services to families to support the child's overall development and social emotional growth within daily routines. Our services focus on empowering parents to become their child's best play partner in a way that makes every interaction with their child improve their social abilities, communication, language, cognitive function, and motor function. An Early Intervention Specialist (EIS) is a provider who partners with families to build trust, promote family confidence and competency, and strengthens family-child relationships in the child's natural environment. An EIS provides family support and focuses on enhancing child development by providing early intervention services to infants and toddlers 0-3 with disabilities and developmental differences. An EIS will primarily work in the family's home conducting weekly 1-2-hour sessions teaching families practical ways to make every interaction with their child a growing and learning experience using specific principles, methods, techniques during daily routines. The EIS will model play skills, coach parents to perform play skills, provide feedback, and engage in discussion to help families learn effective strategies to advance their child's language, communication, development, behavior, social skills, and autism severity while empowering parents to have a closer more satisfying relationship with their child. While maintaining a caseload and overseeing Early Intervention Assistants, an EIS will participate in meetings with CVRC and school districts, update reports, make referrals and support families to ensure a smooth transition of services.

HOURS OF WORK

Full-time or part-time hourly. Typical work hours are between 8am/9am - 5pm/6pm, schedule flexibility can be accommodated for the right candidate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a caseload of children and families while providing weekly services in the child's home/natural environment and ensuring all the objectives and goals in the IFSP are being implemented.
• Teach, coach, and model play-based methods for engaging the child to improve the parent/child interaction while fostering the child's social engagement and initiative during daily routines.
• Collect and watch video of the parent/child interaction to provide constructive family feedback and give practical advice with ideas for fun activities that can be built into daily routines.
• Construct weekly notes and monthly reports to emphasize child strengths, concerns and further enhance parent understanding of their child's development.
• Participate and attend Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) meetings with Central Valley Regional Center and or the appropriate school districts and provide updates to the Service Coordinators as needed.
• Create and update IFSP documents including the Hawaii Early Learning Profile (HELP) and family/child specific outcomes that outlines the development, goals, and progress of each child.
• Provide family support, make appropriate referrals for families, and facilitate a smooth transition into ongoing services.
• Attend meetings and trainings to ensure services are being met and quality of services are maintained.
• Assists in supervising Early Intervention Assistants (EIA) and provides strategies to support the EIA in their work with families.
• Meet weekly/monthly with the Early Intervention Director to schedule and coordinate home visits, seek guidance, coaching, supervision, and collaboration.
• Complete administrative paperwork including mileage, timesheets, monthly/quarterly data, purchase order requests.
• Endorses the Six Foundational Principles of IDEA, under Part C of the California Early Start service system.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSABILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/RESPONSABILITIES:

Education/Experience master's level child development specialist or possess a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or related field and holds a California Education Specialist Credential or a California University Certificate in Early Intervention. Must have 2+ years of experience working with young children with developmental differences, challenges in communication and/or autism. Experience working with Central Valley Regional Center and Early Start services a plus. Language Skills Must have strong communication skills written and verbal. Ability to read. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.

Mathematical Skills :

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer/Technology Skills:

Must be computer literate on the PC, including the use of Outlook email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and learn other software as needed.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Current CPR/First Aid Certification, Current California Driver's license and Valid Automobile Insurance. Department of Justice fingerprint clearance, Negative TB test, current Professional Licensure (if applicable).

Other Skills, Abilities, Requirements or Qualifications:

The ability to travel to clients, vendors, community organizations and offices throughout the organization's service area in your own vehicle. Ability to attend conferences and events as requested. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Ability to organize and communicate work-related information to the public, families, and staff both in person, phone and email. Ability to effectively work with and relate to children with special needs and their parents.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. WORK ENVIRONMENT
