Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract A rewarding contract opportunity is available for a skilled professional experienced in working with visually impaired students. This position is ideal for individuals who are Braille fluent and passionate about empowering learners. As a one-on-one support for a high school male student, you will make a meaningful impact by helping him develop essential Braille literacy skills throughout the 26/27 school year.

Key Qualifications:

Proficiency in Braille; certified Braillists, paraprofessionals, or educators for the visually impaired are encouraged to apply Previous experience teaching Braille to students with unique learning needs Ability to adapt instruction to meet low-cognition learning profiles Comfortable working one-on-one with high school students Patient, flexible, and creative approach to instruction and support

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide individualized Braille instruction tailored to the student's cognitive level and needs Assist the student in developing basic and advanced Braille literacy, including reading and writing Implement educational strategies to reinforce learning and promote independence Collaborate with educational staff to align instruction with the student's IEP and goals Track and report on student progress throughout the academic year Offer daily encouragement, positive reinforcement, and support This contract runs from August 13, 2026, to June 11, 2027, at 30 hours per week.
