9683050-90805 Job Description Make a meaningful impact by supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a vibrant middle school setting. This contract opportunity is ideal for an educator passionate about fostering inclusive learning environments and skilled in sign language communication. Youll work with grades 6-8, collaborating with colleagues and families to develop creative strategies that empower students to connect, learn, and thrive. The position runs 37 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, with hours from 7 am to 3 pm, and is located onsite in a supportive school community.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Valid California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Education Specialist Instruction credential (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) Proficiency in instructional and conversational sign language Enthusiasm for working with middle school students Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with parents and staff Strong commitment to equitable education for all learners
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging instruction and create supportive learning environments tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in grades 6-8 Implement IEP goals and adapt curriculum to ensure accessibility and success Facilitate language development through use of American Sign Language and other communication strategies Partner with general education teachers to foster inclusive classrooms Collaborate with families, staff, and support services for holistic student support Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students and caregivers Step into a role where your expertise and empathy shape both learning outcomes and student confidence.
