This is a great role for individuals pursuing careers in psychology, social work, counseling, behavioral therapy, education, or special education. Pay :

$23.00 per hour

Schedule :

Must be available at least 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 1:00pm-6:00pm, Wednesday 12:30pm-6pm, and Friday 1pm-6pm) Expected hours: Up to 25 hours per week

Monrovia elementary school sites Job type: Part-time, in person Start date: As soon as interview and background check are completed About the role Provide support and assistance to students with behavioral needs, helping to create a positive and inclusive environment in the afterschool program. Behavior Support Specialists will work with youth across a variety of settings in the after-school program, at multiple sites.

What you will do:

Keep students safe and engaged during the after-school program Build positive mentoring relationships with elementary-aged students Lead games, activities, enrichment programs, and group routines Support students with homework and academic activities Help create a respectful, responsible, and fun program culture Work as part of a team with other BGCF staff and school partners Follow program expectations, safety procedures, and staff direction

Requirements:

Must complete screening and fingerprint background check before hire Must have reliable transportation to assigned Monrovia program site Must be able to stand, walk, move around the program area, and actively supervise children Must be able to participate in indoor and outdoor activities with students Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds when needed Must be able to help keep children safe in an emergency

Qualifications:

The completion of at least 48 semester units from an accredited college/university, or obtaining an Associate's degree or higher Currently enrolled in associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree program in related field preferred (ex: psychology, social work, early development, MFT..) Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities Previous experience working in a group setting with school age youth (TK-12) Bilingual capabilities preferred (Spanish) Knowledge of behavior management techniques and interventions for youth with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work effectively as part of a team Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting youth with behavioral challenges Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Reliable transportation; CA driver license required (automobile insurance required) Must pass Staff Instructional Exam prior to employment Why work with BGCF?
