Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Share your expertise and make a meaningful impact supporting students with visual impairments in a dynamic educational setting. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to work as a teacher for the visually impaired, helping students thrive academically and socially. This contract opportunity is designed for educators who are passionate about advocacy, adaptive instruction, and fostering independence.
Qualifications:
Valid teaching credential with certification in visual impairment Previous experience working with visually impaired students preferred Proficient in braille, assistive technology, and alternative communication methods Strong collaboration skills to partner with staff, therapists, and families Ability to create inclusive lesson plans and modify curriculum as needed Compassionate, patient, and creative in problem-solving
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver specialized instruction for students with visual impairments, based on individual education plans Assess student abilities and design strategies tailored to their unique learning styles Instruct students in braille, orientation and mobility skills, and use of assistive technology Consult with general education teachers and staff to ensure accessibility Monitor progress, document student growth, and maintain compliance with educational standards Engage families in goal setting, communication, and advocacy Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaborations
