Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Active and valid teaching license specific for Teachers of the Visually Impaired Previous experience in educational settings specializing in visual impairment highly preferred Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and fellow staff members Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs) Ability to adapt teaching strategies and learning materials for visually impaired students Passion for advocacy and proven commitment to inclusive education
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to eligibility evaluations as needed Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to implement suitable accommodations and modifications Design and deliver specialized instruction, including Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility skills Monitor, document, and report on student progress towards IEP goals Offer support and resources to families, empowering them in educational advocacy
