In this role, you will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for school-aged children before and after school, plan enriching activities, and supervise a team of assistant teachers. Responsibilities Plan and implement daily age-appropriate activities, including homework help, arts and crafts, and recreational games. Supervise school-aged children to ensure their health, safety, and well-being at all times. Lead and mentor assistant teachers and program staff. Maintain open and professional communication with parents and elementary school staff.. Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive guidance techniques. Ensure the childcare facility meets all Connecticut state licensing and safety regulations. Requirements State of Connecticut School Age Head Teacher designation or eligibility to obtain it. At least two years of experience working with school-aged children in a licensed childcare setting. Experience in special education or working with children with diverse needs. Current CPR and First Aid certifications, and current administration of medication certifications, or willingness to obtain them immediately. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting. Ability to work before and after school, approximately 6:30-8:30am and 2:30-6:00pm. Proven experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, including early childhood education or daycare experience.

Nice to have:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in ECE or Child Development. Knowledge of Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) licensing regulations.
