Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding and impactful role supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher. Multiple full-time contract opportunities are available with a focus on fostering growth and success among students in self-contained classrooms, serving grades K-5. These positions offer the chance to collaborate with dedicated paraprofessionals in inclusive environments designed to meet the needs of learners with mild to moderate and moderate to severe disabilities.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Special Education teaching certification Experience working with elementary-aged students, ideally across a range of learning needs Proficiency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Strong classroom management and differentiation skills Comfort and skill in both academic instruction and behavioral interventions Ability to collaborate with paras and other support staff within self-contained settings Excellent communication abilities with students, families, and team members
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and adapt curriculum to meet students' diverse needs within a self-contained classroom Develop and monitor IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Utilize a variety of teaching techniques and assistive technology to engage and support students with mild to moderate and moderate to severe disabilities Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals, promoting an inclusive and supportive environment Collect data on student progress and adjust instruction accordingly Communicate regularly with families and educational stakeholders regarding student achievements and goals Participate in professional development and ongoing training as required This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference while working in a supportive, collaborative environment.
