Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic educational team at Next Wave Academy as a Small Engine Teacher, where you will inspire and equip students with essential skills in small engine technology, including maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of various small engines such as lawnmowers, 4-wheelers, chainsaws, and other power equipment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to share your technical expertise, foster hands-on learning, and prepare students for careers in manufacturing, construction, automotive service, and related fields. Your role will be vital in delivering engaging instruction that combines classroom theory with practical application, empowering teenagers to succeed. Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive instruction on small engine operation, maintenance, repair, and diagnostics using a variety of teaching methods including hands-on demonstrations and online instruction. Facilitate classroom training sessions for post-secondary students and adult learners from diverse cultural backgrounds to ensure an inclusive learning environment. Assess student progress through practical assessments and written evaluations; provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement. Maintain a safe learning environment by adhering to OSHA standards and promoting best practices in safety procedures during all training activities. Collaborate with industry partners to ensure curriculum relevance and incorporate emerging technologies such as educational technologies on computers and online platforms. Requirements Proven experience working with post-secondary students or adult learners in technical or vocational education settings. Strong mechanical knowledge across multiple disciplines including automotive service, welding, hydraulics, HVAC/R systems, electrical work, plumbing, and aircraft maintenance. Familiarity with manufacturing processes, maintenance operations (MRO), and construction experience is highly desirable. Technical proficiency with tools such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Blackboard (learning management system), computers (educational technologies), and course design software. Classroom training experience combined with the ability to develop engaging curricula tailored to diverse student needs. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards relevant to technical training environments. Excellent communication skills with the ability to teach complex concepts clearly while fostering an inclusive classroom atmosphere. Ability to adapt instructional methods for online instruction platforms and integrate new educational technologies effectively. Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 6.0 per week
