As a VPK (Voluntary Prekindergarten) Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for developing and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, managing classroom activities, and supporting the social-emotional growth of children. Your role is vital in preparing preschoolers for kindergarten through innovative teaching strategies, strong communication with families, and adherence to early childhood education standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's early development while working in a dynamic, supportive team environment. Duties Design and execute comprehensive lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, physical education, and social skills. Create a positive classroom atmosphere that promotes curiosity, independence, and respect among children. Implement curriculum development strategies tailored to diverse learning needs, including special education and early intervention techniques. Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share progress, address concerns, and foster collaborative relationships. Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws related to child welfare and safety protocols. Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and daily activities while preparing children for standardized testing when appropriate. Requirements Proven experience working with children in early childhood settings such as daycare, preschool, or private schools. Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, curriculum development, and classroom management strategies. Experience with special education practices, early intervention programs, and literacy education methodologies. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; ongoing training in child welfare and safety protocols is preferred. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, staff, and community partners. Ability to plan engaging lessons that incorporate Montessori or other educational philosophies as applicable. Familiarity with mandated reporting laws and child protection policies is essential. Demonstrated ability to manage classroom behavior constructively while fostering an inclusive learning environment.
