Job Description

Step into a vital, rewarding role supporting students with visual impairments while working across five diverse school sites near Port Saint Lucie, FL. As a specialist educator, you'll collaborate with students, families, and staff to foster independence and maximize learning for learners ages preschool through high school. This is a full-time contract position, starting in October and continuing through early June of the following year, with 35 hours per week allocated to direct teaching and consultative support.
Ideal candidates possess:
Active Florida Department of Education certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired Proficiency in Braille instruction, adapting academic materials, and accessibility tools Previous experience teaching or supporting visually impaired students in school settings Strong organizational skills to effectively manage caseloads across multiple sites Ability to obtain district-required fingerprint clearance (previous AHCA prints may apply) As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in this role, you will: Deliver personalized instruction and support to approximately 12 direct students, totaling 690 service minutes each week Provide consultative assistance to staff and engage with parents to ensure student success Travel between assigned campuses within the district, adapting lessons to meet diverse learner needs Assess and document student progress, develop IEP goals, and participate in school team meetings Teach Braille and assistive technology with a focus on fostering student independence Be part of an inclusive education team in a dynamic school district where your expertise will touch the lives of many.
