Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting the educational journey of students with visual impairments in a full-time, contract-based role. As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), you'll play a vital part in empowering learners from PreK through 12th grade to reach their full academic and personal potential. This is a long-term position, starting as soon as possible and extending through May 2027, offering a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours each week.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or eligibility to obtain appropriate credentials Experience providing direct instruction and consultation for visually impaired students across various age groups and educational settings Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessibility tools Proven ability to collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Excellent organizational, communication, and advocacy skills

Principal Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum and materials as needed for accessibility Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to evaluations Develop and monitor individualized educational plans, setting measurable goals for students Consult with teachers and staff on best practices for inclusion and accessibility within the general education environment Train and support students in the use of braille, low-vision devices, and other assistive technologies Facilitate communication between school teams, families, and outside agencies to ensure comprehensive student support This opportunity offers the chance to make a lasting difference in students' lives, enjoy a predictable schedule, and contribute valuable expertise to a collaborative educational team.
