Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference every day by supporting K-12 students in a collaborative, multi-district environment. This full-time contract opportunity for a Special Education Teacher focuses on serving a diverse group of learners, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and non-verbal needs. The position spans the entire school year and is based on a campus setting, bringing together students from three local school districts.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Active Special Education teaching certification Experience working with students on the autism spectrum and those who are non-verbal Familiarity with K-12 curriculum and ability to adapt to a range of grade levels Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families Resourceful, patient, and committed to differentiated instruction Local residency or ability to reliably commute to the Dalton area
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student Provide direct instruction and support to K-12 students across multiple classrooms as needed Utilize evidence-based interventions and augmentative communication strategies for non-verbal learners Maintain accurate records, track student progress, and communicate goals with stakeholders Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment Collaborate with paraprofessionals and support staff to ensure continuity of care Participate in regular team meetings and professional development
