Type:

full-time Rivermont Collegiate seeks an innovative, collaborative, and student-centered STEM Teacher to inspire students through hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The ideal candidate will have a passion for emerging technologies and experience creating engaging learning experiences that incorporate makerspace activities, robotics, coding, engineering design, and project-based learning . The STEM Teacher will develop and teach age-appropriate STEM experiences that encourage students to ask questions, solve authentic problems, build and create, collaborate with others, and develop the confidence to persevere through challenges. This position will play an important role in developing and expanding Rivermont Collegiate's STEM and innovation programming. Essential Responsibilities Develop and teach engaging, hands-on STEM courses and learning experiences for students across appropriate grade levels. Design and facilitate makerspace projects that incorporate prototyping, 3D design and printing, electronics, physical computing, woodworking, fabrication, and other creative technologies. Develop and implement robotics curriculum and projects , including robot design, construction, programming, sensors, automation, and engineering challenges. Teach coding and computational thinking using age-appropriate programming languages, platforms, and tools. Incorporate programming into robotics, engineering, game design, data analysis, interactive projects, and other interdisciplinary applications. Lead students through the engineering design process , from identifying a problem through ideation, prototyping, testing, iteration, and presentation. Provide opportunities for students to participate in authentic project-based and problem-based learning . Foster creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and perseverance through STEM experiences. Differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of student abilities, interests, and learning styles. Integrate STEM concepts with other academic disciplines when appropriate, including mathematics, science, art, and humanities. Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive makerspace environment and establish appropriate procedures for the use of tools, equipment, and technology. Manage and maintain makerspace, robotics, and technology resources, including inventory, equipment, supplies, and software. Encourage students to document, reflect upon, and present their design and coding processes and final products. Stay current with emerging technologies, STEM education practices, robotics platforms, coding tools, and maker education. Collaborate with faculty to identify opportunities for interdisciplinary STEM projects and experiences. Support extracurricular STEM opportunities, including robotics teams, coding clubs, maker clubs, competitions, exhibitions, or other student innovation initiatives. Participate fully in the life of the school, including faculty meetings, professional development, student activities, and community events. Establish positive relationships with students and families and contribute to a supportive and inclusive school community. Desired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in STEM education, computer science, engineering, technology education, science, mathematics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Experience teaching STEM, computer science, engineering, robotics, coding, or related subjects. Demonstrated experience with makerspaces, robotics, programming, fabrication, or engineering design . Familiarity with programming languages and platforms appropriate for K-12 students. Experience with robotics platforms, physical computing, microcontrollers, sensors, or automation is highly desirable. Experience with 3D printers, laser cutters, CAD/design software, electronics, or other makerspace technologies is a plus. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to create an environment in which students feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, troubleshooting, and trying again. Commitment to hands-on, inquiry-based, and student-centered learning. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the broader school community. They understand that STEM education is not simply about teaching technology-it is about empowering students to become curious thinkers, thoughtful collaborators, creative designers, and confident problem-solvers. Experience with robotics competitions, coding clubs, maker programs, FIRST Robotics, LEGO robotics, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Python, JavaScript, Scratch, CAD, 3D printing, electronics, or similar platforms is especially welcome.
