Job Description
Part Time High School Special Education Teacher (Grades 9-12)
AC/GC High School - Guthrie Center, Iowa
AC/GC High School is seeking a dedicated and collaborative High School Special Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will support students with disabilities in grades 9-12 by providing high-quality instruction, fostering inclusive practices, and collaborating with colleagues and families to ensure student success.
Responsibilities
Provide direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, including progress monitoring and documentation.
Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion, accommodations, and modifications.
Utilize data-driven instructional practices to meet diverse learning needs.
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, staff, and service providers.
Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development.
Maintain accurate and timely special education records and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Support positive student behavior through PBIS and restorative practices.
Contribute to a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
Qualifications
Valid Iowa teaching license with Strategist I endorsement (or ability to obtain).
Willingness to obtain Strategist II endorsement if required by assignment.
Knowledge of special education law, IEP development, and instructional strategies.
Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
Commitment to meeting the needs of all learners.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with high school students.
Experience in co-teaching or inclusive classroom settings.
Familiarity with assistive technology and differentiated instruction.
