Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our vibrant educational community. In this role, you will play a vital part in fostering an inclusive learning environment tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities and developmental challenges. Your expertise will help unlock each student's potential through innovative teaching strategies, personalized support, and collaborative efforts with families and fellow professionals. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children requiring specialized instruction and care. This is position great for an individual who loves working with elementary age students and enjoys small class sizes allowing for more time dedicated to each individual student. Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with state and federal regulations, ensuring each student's unique needs are met effectively. Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development, literacy education, math, and other core subjects, adapted for students with developmental disabilities. Utilize educational technology integration and instructional modifications to enhance learning experiences for students with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders. Manage classroom behavior through positive behavior management techniques, behavioral therapy strategies, and consistent classroom management practices to create a safe and supportive environment. Collaborate closely with speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to provide comprehensive support for student development. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress, share strategies for home support, and foster strong parent-teacher partnerships. Conduct assessments using standardized testing methods to monitor progress and adjust teaching approaches accordingly. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Childhood Development, or a related field; advanced certifications or licenses in special education are preferred. Proven classroom experience working with students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. Strong knowledge of special education law, IEP development, instructional modifications, and behavior management techniques. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Experience working with early childhood education settings or elementary school environments is highly desirable. Familiarity with educational technology tools used to support diverse learners and experience integrating these into daily instruction. Demonstrated ability to adapt curriculum for individual needs while maintaining high standards of literacy education, math instruction, and overall academic growth. Pay:
$50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
