Responsibilities:
At his/her assigned school(s), and in accordance with the provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws, the teacher's duties shall include but are not limited to the following: 1.Plan effective lessons aligned with elementary level Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. 2.Motivate pupils' interest and maintain a classroom environment conducive to instruction in the general education curriculum, and the promotion of student learning and achievement. 3.Properly supervise pupils to insure health and safety as well as positive interaction among peers. 4.Work cooperatively with teaching colleagues to plan, develop curriculum, and be a contributing member of a professional learning community. 5.Contribute to the proper inventory, care, maintenance, storage, of instructional materials and equipment, along with other staff members. 6.Attend and actively participate in grade level and full faculty meetings. 7.Maintain ongoing communication with parents relative to pupil progress including preparation of interim progress reports, quarterly grades for report cards, participation in parent teacher conference days, communication logs and other written telephone/personal conferences as necessary. 8.Spend appropriate time outside of regular school hours to prepare classes, assess student work, and perform ancillary duties. 9.Actively engage in ongoing professional development activity, and to maintain state certification (recertification), including an Individual Professional Development Plan approved by the principal. 10.
