Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract A rewarding full-time opportunity is open for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support elementary-aged students in a self-contained classroom. Situated in the vibrant region surrounding Arnold and Grasonville, MD, this contract position runs from August 17th, 2026, through June 18th, 2027. The role centers on guiding a small classroom, starting with five students (expanding to up to 10), alongside paraprofessional support. Each day features a variable schedule Monday through Friday, with hours falling between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch. The classroom is rooted in the Program for Emotional & Academic Learning Support (PEALS) model, equipping students with essential academic and social skills.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Must hold a valid Maryland Special Education Teaching Certification Experience with elementary self-contained classrooms is highly desired Familiarity with PEALS, Read 180, iSPIRE, Bridges Program, and Orton-Gillingham interventions is beneficial Skilled in designing engaging curriculum, monitoring student progress, and updating IEPs Collaborative spirit to work closely with paraprofessional support and interdisciplinary teams Organized and adaptable, able to respond to IEP-related schedule changes (mainly Tuesdays)
