Qualifications & Desired Experience:

Active Maryland Teaching Certification is required Experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, or similar role, in a K-12 environment Strong familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and educational staff Commitment to individualized education plans and inclusive best practices

Core Responsibilities:

Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students who are visually impaired, following individualized education programs Develop, adapt, and modify curriculum materials using Braille, tactile graphics, and accessible technologies Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment Provide progress updates, participate in IEP meetings, and contribute to goal-setting for students Serve as a resource for staff and families, offering training on assistive devices and accommodations Monitor and document student progress, ensuring compliance with all relevant educational standards This rewarding contract features a manageable, flexible weekly schedule—perfect for professionals seeking to balance their expertise with other commitments.
