Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) on a contract basis. This vital role focuses on guiding and empowering students with visual impairments in a dynamic and supportive educational environment. Your skills will play a crucial part in shaping accessible learning paths and enhancing the overall student experience.
Qualifications and Experience:
Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or equivalent credential required Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, educators, and families Adaptable, patient, and committed to creating an inclusive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
Assess students' visual abilities and design appropriate instructional materials and learning activities Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and the use of specialized technology Collaborate closely with general education teachers and other support staff Advocate for students' needs and accommodations within the school setting Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed Maintain open communication with families and participate in IEP meetings
