Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding leadership role in Special Education for the 2026-2027 academic year as a Lead Teacher (K-5). This contract position will place you at the forefront of supporting and guiding young learners with diverse needs, shaping educational strategies, and fostering a nurturing learning environment. As the Special Education Lead Teacher at the elementary level, you'll collaborate closely with staff and administration to ensure each student receives tailored instruction and the encouragement they need to thrive.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Special Education teaching license (applicable to K-5) Demonstrated expertise in delivering individualized education plans (IEPs) Experience with diverse learning needs and behavioral strategies Strong organizational and leadership skills, with a background in mentoring or team guidance preferred Effective communication abilities with students, staff, and families Commitment to inclusive practices and continuous professional growth
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead the implementation and monitoring of IEPs for elementary students Develop and adapt instructional materials to accommodate varying learning styles Foster an inclusive, positive classroom environment that promotes student success Collaborate with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, service providers, and families Provide guidance and mentorship to special education staff Monitor student progress, collect data, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations Participate in professional development opportunities and school initiatives Enjoy the satisfaction of helping each student realize their full potential in a supportive, community-focused district.
