Learning Center Teacher (Part-Time) Headwaters Academy | Bozeman, Montana Temporary position | November 30, 2026-February 26, 2027 Headwaters Academy is a private, independent middle school in Bozeman, Montana, providing an intellectual community where curious and motivated learners connect robust academic inquiry, create lasting relationships, and embrace joyful adventure inside and outside the classroom. Position Overview Headwaters Academy seeks a flexible, student-centered educator to join our Learning Center team during a maternity leave. The primary focus of this position is supporting students and teachers through the Learning Center. This includes working with students individually and in small groups, pushing into classrooms to support students and teachers, helping students build confidence and independence, and providing substitute coverage when teachers are out. This person will work closely with Learning Center staff, classroom teachers, and school leadership and serve as a flexible, collaborative member of the school team. The role will also include shared school responsibilities such as lunch supervision, afternoon pickup, and front desk coverage. Key Responsibilities Learning Center & Academic Support Provide academic support to students individually, in small groups, and within classrooms. Push into classrooms to support students and teachers as needed. Collaborate with teachers and school leadership to understand student needs and provide appropriate support. Help students develop academic skills, organization, confidence, independence, and self-advocacy. Help maintain a structured, welcoming, and productive Learning Center environment. Communicate relevant observations and student needs with teachers and Learning Center staff. Provide substitute teaching coverage when faculty members are out. Support other classroom or student coverage needs as they arise. Shared School Responsibilities Supervise assigned lunch periods. Support afternoon pickup and dismissal. Provide front desk coverage following established school procedures. Provide student supervision or coverage as needed. Participate in other shared duties appropriate to the position and schedule. Contribute to a warm, collaborative, and student-centered middle school community. Qualifications Working towards Education degree or Bachelor's degree required Experience working with middle school students preferred. Experience in education, academic support, tutoring, student support, or a related field preferred. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Ability to support students both individually and within classroom settings. Schedule & Term This is a temporary, part-time position covering a maternity leave from November 30, 2026 through February 26, 2027. The position will be no more than 20 hours per week, generally Tuesday through Friday during the late morning and afternoon, including afternoon pickup. Exact daily hours will be finalized based on school needs and the candidate's availability. Compensation & Application Compensation is $30 per hour.
