Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher. This contract position is full-time, running from as soon as possible through June 4, 2027, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 7:15am to 3:15pm (37.5 hours weekly). The focus will be on self-contained, non-severe caseloads, allowing you to make a meaningful impact by fostering growth and inclusion for students with diverse learning needs.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

Current Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility) for middle school in North Carolina. Experience teaching students with mild to moderate disabilities in a self-contained setting preferred. Strong understanding of developing and implementing IEPs and differentiated instruction strategies. Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff. Excellent communication and classroom management skills. Commitment to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to middle school students in a self-contained classroom. Develop, monitor, and update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with families and multidisciplinary teams. Utilize evidence-based practices and adaptive materials to address student goals. Collect data and track progress, adjusting interventions as needed to maximize student success. Participate in meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning. Promote an inclusive, respectful classroom atmosphere that encourages student achievement.
