Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting 4th and 5th grade students in a dynamic elementary setting. This contract opportunity starts September 1, 2026 and continues through June 30, 2027, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm—offering approximately 35 hours each week. In this role, you'll utilize your expertise to nurture student growth, collaborating in both inclusion (co-teaching in general education classrooms) and resource (push-in/pull-out) environments. You'll work closely with a diverse population of elementary-age learners, ensuring every child receives the tailored support they need to thrive.
What you bring:
Valid New York State Teaching License:
K-5 Teacher of Students with Disabilities. Experience teaching elementary special education, especially in co-teaching/inclusion and resource/pull-out models, is highly desired. Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with general education teachers, support staff, and families. Ability to develop and implement IEPs aligned to student needs. Flexibility and enthusiasm for adapting instructional strategies to a variety of learning environments and student profiles. What you'll do: Provide individualized and small group instruction for students with disabilities in both inclusive and resource settings. Co-plan and co-teach alongside general education teachers to support shared students. Access, modify, and deliver curriculum tailored to meet diverse learning styles. Monitor, assess, and document student progress toward IEP goals. Engage regularly with parents, advocates, and school teams to support student success.
