The ideal candidate will possess strong literacy and language skills, experience in curriculum development, and a commitment to student growth. This role involves designing engaging lesson plans, implementing effective classroom management strategies, and supporting students' academic and personal development through innovative teaching methods. Duties Develop and implement comprehensive ELA curricula aligned with educational standards and be familiar with the NYS ELA Test Design and deliver engaging lessons that incorporate learning technology, creative writing, and literacy education strategies. Conduct assessments using standardized testing methods to evaluate student progress and adapt instruction accordingly. Provide individualized tutoring and academic advising to support diverse learning needs, including special education considerations. Manage classroom behavior effectively through behavior management techniques and classroom management skills to create a positive learning environment. Mentor students in journalism, research projects, and library services to enhance their writing skills and research capabilities. Collaborate with colleagues on instructional design, curriculum development, and school initiatives related to education administration. Engage in professional development activities related to higher education teaching practices, Montessori methods (if applicable), or other specialized instructional approaches. Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress with parents, guardians, and administration. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field; higher education teaching experience is preferred. Valid teaching certification for middle school ELA or equivalent credentials. Demonstrated experience working with middle school students across diverse backgrounds. Strong writing skills , and be familiar with the NYS ELA Exam Knowledge of instructional design, lesson planning, classroom management, and literacy education best practices. Familiarity with learning technology tools and standardized testing procedures. Excellent communication skills combined with organizational skills for effective classroom instruction and collaboration. Experience working in private schools or specialized educational settings such as Montessori or special education programs is a plus. Ability to mentor students academically and personally while fostering an inclusive classroom environment focused on academic excellence and behavioral management.
