Job Description

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy & Education seeks a Special Education Teacher to support children and young adults with behavioral and learning challenges. In this role, you will design and deliver individualized and small-group instruction, develop and manage IEPs, and collaborate closely with therapists and behavior specialists to implement evidence-based interventions. You will monitor progress, adjust supports, and communicate regularly with families and districts. Responsibilities Provide individualized and small-group instruction to K-12 students with special needs using evidence-based practices Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with families and school teams Assess student academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs and track progress toward goals Collaborate daily with therapists, behavior analysts, and support staff to coordinate care Implement behavior intervention plans and use positive behavior support strategies Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and compliance with special education regulations Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and district partners on student progress Participate in team meetings, professional development, and training on specialized interventions Adapt curriculum, materials, and classroom environment to diverse learning and behavioral needs Promote a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed learning environment aligned with organizational values Required Skills Special education instruction IEP development and case management Behavior intervention implementation Progress monitoring and data collection Classroom and behavior management Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams Parent and caregiver communication Differentiated instruction and accommodations Knowledge of IDEA and special education compliance Trauma-informed and student-centered practices
