This full-time contract opportunity involves leading a self-contained classroom of primarily second-grade students with multiple handicaps (MH), including several nonverbal learners. Desired Qualifications & Experience:

Special Education teaching license valid for grades K-2 or eligibility to obtain it Experience working with children with multiple handicaps, preferably in a self-contained setting Familiarity with teaching strategies for nonverbal students, including alternative and augmentative communication methods Ability to design and adjust individualized education programs (IEPs) Strong classroom management skills and a nurturing, patient approach Effective communication skills to work proactively with paraprofessionals, related service staff, and parents

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to the varied needs of each student Foster a classroom atmosphere that promotes engagement, independence, and emotional safety Utilize a range of instructional techniques, including visual supports and adaptive technology, to facilitate learning for nonverbal students Monitor student progress regularly and adjust interventions as needed to help every child reach their goals Collaborate consistently with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure each student receives comprehensive support Maintain accurate records and uphold compliance with all educational and legal requirements Take the lead in shaping foundational school experiences for young learners who need it most.
