Job Description

The Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit is looking for an enthusiastic educators dedicated to creating inclusive and supportive learning environments for students with diverse needs. The role involves working closely with families and other educational professionals to foster each student's academic, social, and emotional growth. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills, adaptability, and a passion for making a difference in students' lives. There are openings in the Emotional Support and Multiple Disabilities Support (MDS) programs. 1 Elementary Emotional Support classroom 1 Elementary Multiple Disabilities Support classroom 2 Secondary Multiple Disabilities Support classrooms The Special Education Teacher will: Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs. Collaborate with teachers and support staff to modify curriculum and teaching methods. Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records to assess effectiveness of educational strategies. Provide guidance and support to students in developing life skills and social behaviors. Engage with families and caregivers to ensure consistent communication and collaborative approach to student development. Follow an assigned schedule and BVIU Policies and Procedures. Effectively plan and implement lessons for students Prepare substitute plans for absences Provide crisis intervention when needed Implement appropriate disciplinary measures to students as agreed upon with the supervisor Participate in reporting all crisis intervention and disciplinary actions taken as assigned by supervisor Direct aides as to classroom responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Education, required. PA Teaching Certification in Special Education, required. Experience working with children with diverse special needs Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to create and adapt lesson plans for individual student needs Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students' growth and development
Pay:
From $55,676.00 per year
