Pay is based upon experience with special education. River Academy is a dynamic school that embraces the joy of learning and playing. We focus on building strong connections with our students to find the best way to help them to succeed. Currently enrollment is at 10 students in the whole building! We are a small, private school located in the Fox Chapel area of Pittsburgh, PA. We are seeking candidates with experience working with students with complex educational needs. Children in grades kindergarten to 8th grade are accepted into the school. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role involves working closely with students who require individualized support and behavioral needs, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals. The Substitute Special Education Teacher will be on call for staff call offs and also scheduled in advance for staff taking time off. Duties Special Education Teacher should demonstrate sense of leadership and independence with teaching skills and ability to follow a lesson plan. The school is staffed with full-time Special Education Teachers, Para-professionals, a BCBA, and Director. Experience A degree in Special Education K-8 or related or related area Experience in a Special Education school setting. Familiarity with childhood development principles and practices is essential. Strong communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration with students, parents, and colleagues. Previous experience working in a private special education school setting is highly desirable.
