Make a difference in the lives of students by supporting their educational growth as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI). This contract opportunity offers full-time hours (37.5 per week) and the unique experience of working as an itinerant professional, traveling to various schools within the county to provide specialized instruction and support to a school-aged caseload. Your role will impact students with visual impairments by partnering with educators, families, and staff to ensure access to curriculum and maximize learning opportunities. Collaborate on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and help implement best practices in visual impairment education.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience working with school-aged students who have visual impairments Familiarity with itinerant teaching models and flexibility to travel within designated areas Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to adapt and implement instructional strategies for various grade levels Commitment to inclusive education
Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across multiple schools Collaborate with general and special education teachers, related service providers, and families Assess students needs and contribute to IEP development and progress monitoring Support the adaptation of classroom materials and use of adaptive technology Travel daily between school sites within the county, maintaining detailed records of services provided
