Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in a dynamic educational environment near Decatur, TX. Two full-time openings are available for experienced Special Education Teachers to cover maternity and sick leave assignments. The start date is immediate, with end dates to be determined—some positions may continue through the school year, depending on internal hiring. Role A focuses on upper elementary students (3rd-5th grade) with behavioral needs. This is not a fully self-contained setting, providing an engaging challenge for educators experienced in behavioral interventions. The caseload consists of five students, with a manageable workload and no physically demanding responsibilities. Role B centers on younger students (K-2nd grade) with life skills needs. This caseload includes four students. Prior life skills teaching experience is essential to foster growth and independence in these learners. A unique opportunity exists for professionals skilled in both behavioral and life skills support. If you are flexible and versatile, you could seamlessly transition from Role A (behavioral) to Role C (high school life skills, beginning in November for another maternity leave), potentially extending your impact through the rest of the school year. Role C involves working with five high school students focused on life skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teaching certification Demonstrated experience with behavioral supports and/or life skills instruction Adaptable and collaborative communication style Ability to create engaging, supportive learning environments Reliable, committed, and organized
