Job Description

The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider a challenging and gratifying employment opportunity with our agency. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary individual to join our team as a Lower Elementary Educator for the Blind/Visually Impaired located in Springville.
Principal Duties:
As an Educator you will: Perform the duties of a classroom Instructor for the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, Blind/Visually Impaired (B/VI) division Provide appropriate programming for blind/visually impaired students, elementary age Prepare and write lesson plans for each student Generate information/reports on children as appropriate Follow appropriate curriculums, as provided Advise and teach parents in the area of blindness/visual impairment Provide and maintain equipment/materials Take a collaborative role at staffing meetings, IEP meetings, student transitions, and aid in IEP success through appropriate assessments, including assessment of vision functioning, goal development, and follow-through of the IEP Attend training sessions and workshops as assigned by program administrators Be involved with training colleagues in skill development programming Coordinate with B/VI supervisor and program director Performs other duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate:
The Ideal Candidate will possess or eligibility of: Bachelor's degree (required) or Master's degree (preferred) in Special Education. State of Utah Teaching License with a Visually Impaired or Deaf-Blind endorsement (or be willing to complete within 3 years of hire). Successful completion of criminal background check.
