Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting 5th and 6th grade students in a vibrant school environment as a Special Education Teacher on a contract basis. This rewarding position involves working closely with students who have diverse learning needs, including some non-verbal individuals who spend much of their time in a dedicated special education classroom supported by paraprofessionals. The role includes designing engaging lessons for both pull-out groups and special education classrooms, collaborating with staff, and nurturing growth in every child.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field Valid teaching license with endorsement in Special Education Experience working with students with varying disabilities, including non-verbal learners Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and data-driven instruction Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with paraprofessionals and general education staff Compassion and dedication to supporting the unique needs of each student
Key Responsibilities:
Provide instruction in small groups and within the special education classroom, adapting lessons to diverse learning and communication needs Implement IEPs with fidelity; maintain comprehensive progress documentation Collaborate with paraprofessionals to support non-verbal students' academic and social development Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and independence Communicate regularly with families, related service providers, and team members to support student growth Participate in professional development and school meetings as required Experience the fulfillment of guiding students toward their goals within a supportive and collaborative school community.
