Job Description

This position requires a ministry-oriented academic instructor with a passion for excellence and a heart for troubled youth. This person must be motivated and organized, and he/she must have a genuine relationship with Christ.
Schedule:
M-F, with basic times of 7 AM-3:30PM, working one Saturday every three months. 1. Maintain the Teen Challenge Ranch classroom: Cooperate with and provide support to the classroom supervisor Maintain a quiet, controlled atmosphere in the classroom Provide instruction and tutoring to students as need Track and record student progress Oversight and organization of resource materials and libraries Provide accurate student feedback on behavior Complete reports and records in a timely manner Help monitor student breaks Keep the classroom clean and organized Managing computers, which includes updating and resolving computer issues Direct oversight of classroom and staff when supervisor is not available Punctual and professional in appearance Positive attitude, showing initiative, and able to make maximum use of available time and resources Uses good judgement and can listen to and effectively communicate to others 2. Discipleship Training for
Teacher:
Staff should be able and prepared to lead students to Christ Provide spiritual leadership to students while also continually encouraging students toward personal, spiritual, and academic growth 3. Paraprofessional Skills for
Teacher:
Demonstrate competency as a paraprofessional (as appropriate to position) in areas which include but are not limited to (TCAR Training Provided): Specific needs of persons served. Identifying of risk factors such as suicide, violence, and other risky behaviors. Crisis management, de-escalation, and nonviolent practices Basic paraprofessional intervention techniques/skills Person-centered intervention and evidence-based practices Interviewing skills Cultural Issues 4. Qualifications for
Teacher:
College degree, teacher certification preferred General computer proficiency and solid organizational skills Complete all required training (provided by TCAR) Maintain First Aid and CPR certification (certification training provided by TCAR) Be trained in Crisis Intervention at least biannually (provided by TCAR) At least 21 years of age 5. Teacher:
Attend Education and TCAR staff meetings Attend scheduled family Reconnect weekends Attend scheduled Camp Orr events Communicate with parents concerning students academic progress Supervision and interaction with students during various activities, which may include but is not limited to school, breaks, free time, and recreational activities At times staff members may be called upon to serve in areas not necessarily outlined in their formal job duties descriptions Hours to work are individualized as student coverage necessitates Reporting Supervisor -Karen Gilbert, Academic Supervisor Department Director -
