Job Description
Spectrum Center Schools and Programs seeks a Permanent Substitute Teacher to support K-12 students with autism and other special needs in specialized classrooms across California. In this role, you provide daily classroom coverage, deliver standards-based lessons, and implement IEP goals using evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies. You will collaborate closely with special education teachers, clinicians, and support staff, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure a safe, structured, trauma informed learning environment. Ongoing training, coaching, and career growth are provided within a mission driven, student focused team. Responsibilities Provide daily classroom coverage for absent teachers across specialized K-12 settings Deliver standards-based instruction aligned with student IEP goals and lesson plans Implement behavior support plans and utilize evidence-based classroom management strategies Adapt curriculum and materials for students with autism, emotional, and behavioral needs Collaborate with special education teachers, clinicians, and support staff to support student progress Maintain accurate attendance, academic, and behavioral documentation Create and maintain a safe, structured, trauma-informed classroom environment Communicate effectively with school leadership and support teams regarding student needs Participate in professional development, coaching, and staff meetings Support implementation of school-wide positive behavior and reinforcement systems Required Skills Classroom management Special education instructional strategies IEP implementation and progress monitoring Behavior intervention and de-escalation techniques Differentiated instruction Data collection and documentation Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Trauma-informed practices Assistive technology familiarity Written and verbal communication
