Long Term Substitute English Teacher

Job Description

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to fill a temporary position for Long Term Substitute English Teacher at Bunnell High School. The ideal candidate will foster a love for reading and writing while enhancing students' critical thinking and communication skills. This role requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of high school students. Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive English Language Arts lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum goals.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and standardized tests, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the varying needs and learning styles of students, including those with special needs and English language learners.
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching methods, materials, and technologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary projects and share best practices in teaching English Language Arts.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic performance.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and best practices in English Language Arts instruction. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification in English Language Arts for middle school level.
  • Previous teaching experience, particularly in middle school English Language Arts, is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of English language arts curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for diverse learners.
  • Proficient in using technology and digital resources in the classroom.
  • Commitment to promoting a positive school culture and supporting the mission of Wooster Middle School.
