Job Description

Job Title Long-Term Substitute Teacher Reports To Buidling Principal Job Summary The Long-Term Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment during the extended absence of the regular classroom teacher. This position requires planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, managing classroom behavior, collaborating with school staff, and communicating effectively with students and families. The long-term substitute is expected to perform many of the same duties as the regular classroom teacher while ensuring continuity of instruction and supporting student success. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assume responsibility for all classroom instruction during the assigned period. Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, state standards, and school expectations. Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of students. Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, assignments, and student progress. Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment. Implement classroom management strategies that promote positive student behavior. Communicate regularly with administrators, instructional coaches, support staff, and parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, parent conferences, and other school activities as directed. Maintain confidentiality of student records and sensitive information in accordance with federal, state, and district regulations. Utilize instructional technology and district-approved digital learning platforms effectively. Supervise students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, recess, dismissal, or other assigned duties. Follow all district policies, school procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator.
