INTERVENTIONIST
(TITLE I)•2026-2027 School Year Sugar Loaf Elementary School General Statement of Job The Interventionist may perform a variety of technical and clerical tasks in assisting the classroom teacher and/or may provide support to students struggling academically. Required qualifications Associate Degree or 48 semester hours towards an associate degree, preferred. Essential duties and responsibilities Assists teacher with executing instruction and evaluating its effectiveness. Maintains and respects the confidentiality of student and school personnel information. Constantly monitors the safety and well-being of students. Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families. Assists students with learning; reinforces and clarifies instruction; provides one-on-one assistance as needed. Performs general housekeeping duties in maintaining an orderly classroom. Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom. Monitors student behavior and helps maintain discipline in the classroom; assists with crisis prevention. Praises and reinforces achievement of students; promotes self-esteem. Additional duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal and/or teacher. Essential knowledge and abilities Applicant must have strong interpersonal skills and patience. Experience working with students and knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is strongly encouraged. Must have strong organizational skills. Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages including medical, legal, and counseling terminology. Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, calculators, pencils, scissors, etc. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
