General Summary:
Substitute Teachers are responsible for maintaining the continuity of classroom instruction in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. They are expected to implement lesson plans, manage classroom behavior, and ensure a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment for all students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Follow the lesson plans and daily schedules provided by the regular teacher. Instruct students in accordance with school and district policies and procedures. Manage classroom behavior and promote a positive learning environment. Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, and other assigned duties. Maintain confidentiality of all student and staff information. Leave a summary of the day's activities and any student issues for the returning teacher. Communicate professionally with school staff and administration. Report any incidents, issues, or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus. Must pass required background checks and complete district-required training. Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills. Ability to adapt and be flexible in varying classroom environments.
Working Conditions:
May work in a variety of school settings (elementary, middle, or high school). May be required to lift up to 25 pounds and perform light physical activity. Must be available on short notice and work assigned hours as needed.
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated by the school principal or designee in accordance with district policies and procedures. If performance is not effective and does not align to the expectations of the school and/or the district, your employment may be discontinued.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
As needed, on-call basis. Compensation based on the district's current substitute pay scale. No benefits are associated with this position unless otherwise stated.
