Job Description

Company Overview The Winston Prouty Center for Child Development is dedicated to providing inclusive education and comprehensive family support to foster the success and well-being of children and families. Our Early Learning Center (ELC) is made up of five classrooms and serves children from infancy to 5 years old, while our newly-created Afterschool program serves 5 - 12 year olds. Our approach to education is Responsive, Respectful, Relationship-based, and Reflective. Please see our ELC webpage for more information about our program: https://winstonprouty.org/early-learning-center-program/ Job Overview Substitute Teachers support regular teaching staff with all aspects of the curriculum and activities by covering shifts for teachers who are out due to planned vacation or unplanned emergencies and illness. They are supervised by the ELC Administrative Director and each classroom's Lead Teachers as to specific job responsibilities and classroom assignment. Substitute Afterschool Staff support the Afterschool Program Coordinator and other regular afterschool staff by covering late afternoon shifts as needed. In either program, substitutes should work to make themselves familiar with the classroom or program schedule and routines as well as with the individual children and their needs. This position is on a per diem basis. Qualifications Familiarity with regulations pertaining to child care Experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or elementary school setting Responsiveness to the intellectual, emotional, and social needs of children Ability to work with groups of young children Flexibility necessary to work as a team member Enthusiasm and sense of humor Commitment to internal and external client service Friendly, helpful and cooperative attitude Requirements Successfully pass required background checks Experience in an early childhood setting Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
