Today, FCSA has over 100 employees dedicated to our mission of providing unconditional care to children and their families. FCSA provides behavioral and mental health services to youth aged 5-19. Services include outpatient therapy, education, foster care, and short or long-term residential treatment. FCSA is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and was one of the first organizations to be licensed by the state to establish, recruit, and monitor foster homes. About the Job Family Centered Services of Alaska is looking for a qualified individual to fill the Paraprofessional role in our Youth Education Support Services. The Paraprofessional supports classroom instruction and educational services under the guidance of a Certified Teacher and the Outpatient Education Administrator. The position assists with reinforcing lesson plans, implementing individualized educational goals, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

Provide individualized and small-group instruction in basic skill content, remedial and GED curriculum, physical education, and/or arts and crafts activities under the guidance of the Certified Teacher. Assists the Certified and Special Education Teachers in gathering assessment data and tracking progress toward instructional objectives and IEP goals. Reinforce academic curriculum and educational activities aligned with each student's mental health treatment plan. Implement behavioral intervention strategies under program guidance and best practices. Provide crisis intervention and manage classroom dynamics as needed. Maintain familiarity with each students Individualized Education Treatment Plan and assist in implementing supportive daily activities. Observe and record student behavior accurately using the established behavior modification charting system. Assist in organizing classroom materials, educational resources, and recreational or artistic activities. Assist with collecting and organizing documentation related to student performance, attendance, and grading. Gather transcripts and educational records of newly admitted students for teacher review. Attend staff meetings, required trainings, teleconferences, IEP meetings, treatment team meetings, and court hearings as requested. Communicate appropriately with community professionals, parents, social service agencies, and medical personnel as directed. Maintain complete and accurate daily reporting and charting on student activities and behaviors. Complete incident reports promptly and accurately. Record the administration of medications in accordance with agency policy and training. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in education, guidance, and counseling, or other closely related human service areas preferred. Able to work as an education team and mental health treatment team member. Physical ability to employ Verbal and Physical aggression control techniques after being certified. (Ability to Physically Restrain adolescent clients). This may require you to lift 40 lbs., bend your knees, extend arms and shoulders and other physical movements necessary to safely restrain a client. Familiarity with state and federal special education laws. Current first aid and CPR certificate or ability to become certified. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Current Alaska driver's license, personal vehicle insurance, and driving history that allows for insurability by FCSA auto insurance carrier. Freedom from criminal convictions that may adversely affect the employee's ability to work safely with children, contingent on a fingerprint & background records check conducted by the State of Alaska Division of Health Care Services Background Check Unit. This position is a driving position . Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position. All applicants must be at least 21 years of age due to State of AK regulations and must pass a State of AK Background Check.

Pay:

$24.21 - $27.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
