The Opportunity Environmental Charter Schools is seeking a Behavior Intervention Support Paraeducator to provide individual and small group behavior support in and out of the classroom setting in conjunction with teachers, colleagues and families. We're looking for a candidate with patience, who is non-judgmental and able to connect with kids that have behavioral challenges. Experience is preferred but not required; we can support with training. Responsibilities Para Duties Maintain high expectations for all students and a deep belief that all students can learn Assist teachers with the implementation of students' IEP plans by providing positive learning experiences including; group and one on one tutoring and monitoring student progress Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce materials and/or skills introduced and outlined by teaching staff Implement a specific behavior intervention plan for assigned student(s,) monitoring and documenting the student's progress and behavior, and making necessary modifications to the plan as needed Maintain CPI certification (or similar intervention program) Act as a liaison between assigned student(s), teachers, and parents, communicating effectively about academic progress and behavioral development. Ensure assigned student(s)'s well-being and safety in the school environment and assist in managing crisis situations, as needed Collaborate with the wider school team to ensure consistency in educational and behavioral approaches Provide support for students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities (e.g. lunch periods, play periods and field trips) When requested, serves as a resource person to various teams (e.g. IEP, Title 1, ELD) Attend necessary training sessions associated with individual students as required (e.g. medical procedures, behavior intervention support, data tracking, etc) Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback Model a personal code of ethics aligned with ECS Mission and Vision Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, Associate degree preferred Certification in behavior intervention and support strongly preferred Bilingual preferred Demonstrates an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude towards students of various age groups, temperaments and abilities (particularly those exhibiting specialized needs) Exhibit ability to handle confidential information and materials Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators Commitment to the success of all students and the ECS mission, vision, and values The Perks Competitive compensation package inclusive of a generous benefits package 100% of HMO level healthcare premium costs covered by employer, and contributions towards dependent healthcare Employer-paid ECS life insurance Voluntary Benefits (Supplemental Life, Accident, Short Term Disability, etc.) Generous time off program includes 22 holidays, sick leave and vacation Small Learning Communities with smaller class sizes and lower student to counselor ratios Social and Environmental Justice Focus Professional growth and enrichment opportunities
