Teacher's Assistant Golden Horizon Academy - Cutler Bay, FL Full-Time (35 hours) About Us Golden Horizon Academy is a private K-8 school in Cutler Bay, Florida, dedicated to serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities through individualized educational and therapeutic programs. Our mission is to provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment where every student has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. (Golden Horizon Academy) We are looking for compassionate, dependable, and energetic Teacher's Assistants who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with special needs. Position Summary The Teacher's Assistant supports the Lead Teachers in creating a safe, engaging, and organized classroom environment. This role assists with classrooms instruction, student supervision, daily activities, and classrooms organization while helping students develop academically, socially, and independently. Responsibilities Assist the assigned Lead Teacher(s) with daily classroom instruction and activities. Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students. Maintain continuous supervision of students throughout the school day. Assist students with daily living activities as needed, including toileting, feeding, hygiene, dressing, and mobility. Prepare classroom materials, learning activities, and educational displays. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment. Support students during transitions, lunch, recess, field trips, and school events. Assist with attendance and other classroom documentation. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, nurses, and administrators. Follow all school policies regarding safety, confidentiality, and professionalism. Perform basic clerical duties, including copying, filing, laminating, etc. Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher, Principal, or school administration Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Compassion, patience, and reliability. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist students with mobility when necessary. Ability to pass all required Level II background screenings. Preferred Experience working with children, especially those with special needs. CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain). Associate's Degree or coursework in Education, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field. Physical Requirements This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds, assisting students with mobility, and responding quickly to student needs in a classroom environment. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in a classroom setting with occasional outdoor supervision. The position requires working closely with students who may require behavioral, physical, or academic support.

From $17.50 per hour
