Responsibilities Assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) to support students' academic and behavioral goals Provide physical assistance and classroom support for students with disabilities, ensuring their safety and comfort during activities Support literacy, math, and curriculum development efforts through lesson planning and hands-on activities aligned with educational standards such as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Use effective behavior management techniques to promote positive conduct and address behavioral disorders supportively Collaborate closely with teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to develop comprehensive support strategies Facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication methods when applicable Maintain confidentiality of sensitive student information while documenting progress and incidents accurately Skills Strong understanding of childhood development, early childhood education, and preschool or Montessori classroom environments Experience working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities Proficiency in classroom management and behavior management tailored to students with special needs Knowledge of special education practices, including IEP development and implementation Excellent communication skills for engaging effectively with students, colleagues, parents, and specialists Ability to provide physical assistance for students requiring mobility or behavioral support Familiarity with curriculum areas such as literacy education, basic math, toddler care, and childcare principles Experience working in private school settings or classrooms supporting children with diverse learning needs This paid position is ideal for passionate individuals eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children.
